Aerolineas Argentinas

While Aerolíneas Argentinas was founded in 1950 and became Argentina's flag carrier, its history can be traced back to 1929, when Aeroposta started operations. 1930, two more airlines started operating in Argentina, LASO and LANE. 1945, LASO and LANE merged forming LADE. One year later FAMA was created and became the first intercontinental airline in Argentina. May 1949, all the carriers mentioned above merged, giving birth to Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Finnair

1923, Aero O/Y (Aero Ltd) was founded. March 1924, first flight from Helsinki to Tallinn. After the war, the Finnish government acquires a majority stake and re-launches services to Europe. In 1953, Aero Ltd changes its name to Finnair. In 1983, Finnair becomes the first operator to fly non-stop from Western Europe to Japan by introducing Helsinki-Tokyo flights. The same for China in 1988, by introducing Helsinki-Bejing route. Finnair joins the Oneworld alliance in 1999.

Air China

Air China was born on the 1st of July, 1988, as a result of a decision to split the operating divisions of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) into separate entities. The CAAC was split in late 1987 into Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, China Northern, China Southwest, and China Northwest. Back in 1988, Air China was headquartered in Beijing and handled intercontinental flights operating CAAC's long and medium haul Boeing aircraft. By 1998, Air China was serving 144 routes.

Royal Air Maroc

1953 The company was founded as Compagnie Cherifienne des Transports Aériens. The name Royal Air Maroc was adopted after independence. The company began flying international routes in 1957 from Casablanca. By the end of the 70s, RAMaroc was flying to Europe, North America, the Middle East, and North Africa. RAM continued to expand in the 1980s. New routes opened, frequencies increased and new aircraft were introduced. The expansion of Casablanca Mohammed V airport provided RAM a modern base.

Copa Airlines

Established as Compañía Panameña de Aviación in 1944, Copa started operations in 1947. International flights were introduced in 1960, when Copa connected Panama to cities in Jamaica, Colombia, and Costa Rica. 1979, facing competition from Air Panama, Copa discontinued its domestic flights and introduced flights to San Juan, Puerto Rico, as well as to the Dominican Republic and Miami. In the first years of the 1990s, the airline added flights to Ecuador, Lima, Mexico City, Caracas, and Havana.

Korean Air was founded in 1962 as an intergovernmental enterprise, and established as a private airline in March, 1969. In 1971 and 1972, transpacific cargo and passenger services to the United States were introduced. In 1973 regular service to Paris was introduced. 2 years later, Korean Air was one of the first Asia airlines to purchase the A300. In April, 1994, the airline celebrated its 25th anniversary, reaching the 150 million passengers carried milestone.
